Living History Returns to Marshall Gold Discovery SHP
Experience what life was like during the California Gold Rush
Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park in Coloma, California, will come alive on Saturday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Experience what life was like during the California Gold Rush during Living History Day activities, take part in the Gold Panning Challenge from 12 to 3 p.m., and learn about becoming a volunteer at the park at a Meet and Greet at 1 p.m.
Living history activities will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the picnic area behind the museum.
• Learn what it was like to be a miner in Coloma and what tools were used to find gold. Then stake your claim and cash in your findings at the assay office.
• Take a peek inside a covered wagon and learn what belongings the immigrants might have brought across the prairie.
• Visit with a gold rush merchant, stop by the boarding house to see what’s cooking, or wet your whistle at the saloon.
• Don’t forget to stop by the blacksmith shop and visit historic buildings in town.
