Here’s the local lowdown on how to make the most of the best years of your life, with 10 great local senior deals and discounts—handpicked just for you. 

1) Explore our great state parks and save some money! The California Department of Parks and Recreation has vehicle and camping discounts for visitors aged 62 and over. Also, for a small fee, the Golden Bear Pass offers free day use for vehicles during non-peak season to qualifying applicants aged 62 and over.

2) Enjoy all the wonders of aviation history at the Aerospace Museum of California and get 30 percent off the admission price if you’re aged 65 or older. Open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

3) Ride the rails and save along Amtrak’s Capitol Corridor. Seniors aged 62 and over can save 15 percent on tickets every day of the week travelling anywhere in the network between Auburn and San Jose.  

4) Tee off! Get a $10 round of golf for just $2 at Rancho Cordova’s Monster Mini Golf from Monday-Thursday with valid senior identification. Located in Rancho Cordova’s Nimbus Winery complex.

5) Check out the SilverSneakers program: you may qualify for free gym membership at participating local fitness centers if you have eligible health care coverage with Medicare Advantage. 

6) Shine, shine, shine! Legacy Cleaning Services, serving the Greater Sacramento area, offers a 10 percent discount to clients aged 65 and over.

7) Support a great local charity and find some bargains while you’re at it. Visit Snowline Hospice Thrift Stores, where seniors receive 10 percent off every Tuesday and Thursday. Locations in Folsom, Placerville, Cameron Park, and Sacramento.

8) Get healthy and stay healthy at Elliott’s Fine Nutrition in Rocklin, Citrus Heights, and Folsom, with their daily senior discount: an extra 5 percent off regularly priced vitamins and supplements for customers 65 and over.

9) Stock up on natural food products and supplements from Sunrise Natural Foods in Auburn and Roseville. Customers aged 55 and over receive a 15 percent discount every Wednesday.

10) If you’re a seafood fan (or a fine food fan) and you’re 55 or over, sign up for a Scott’s Seafood Senior Club Card and get 20 percent off an entrée (lunch and dinner) when you dine in.
