Placerville Event: 15th Annual Crab & Chowder Gala Drive-Thru

The Crab & Chowder Gala on Friday, November 13th will be drive-thru! (from 5pm thru 7pm). We realized it would be impossible to host the event inside the Mark D. Forni building, as in the past 14 years, so instead devised a great way for folks to indulge in the First of the Season, fresh, delicious Dungeness Crab, then enjoy it with the company of family or close friends. We hope that folks will gather in their homes to host their own personal Crab Fest without stress, while supporting the Fair at the same time.


Each serving includes 3 ½ pounds of crab, chowder, salad and bread, accompanied with cocktail sauce, salad dressing, butter for the bread, and… a special Crab Bib! A bottle of local Boeger Barbera or Chardonnay may be purchased as well. Meals will be available at the back of the Forni Building by simply driving up and submitting your ticket.


A favorite part of the Gala— besides the fresh crab— is the awesome deals and steals available at the raffle and silent auction. To date, some of the items available are a 3-night Lake Tahoe vacation in a 3-bedroom lakeview home in Incline Village, a 4H raised 17-pound turkey, 4H raised lamb and more. This year, each meal will include One Raffle Ticket, which will be picked during a Facebook “LIVE” event the evening of the Gala. The grand prize will indeed be something GRAND.


The auction will be a virtual “LIVE” auction – beginning on Thursday, November 12th at 8am, and ending on Friday, November 13th at 8:30 pm where people can gather together with their devices for last minute bids! The auction site will be the same great site used for the Livestock Auction, http://susantaylorshowservices.com. (Auction items may be claimed at the Fair Office the following week.)


Tickets are available for purchase on the fair’s website: eldoradocountyfair.org or at the Fair Office (100 Placerville Drive, Placerville, CA): Monday through Friday 9am-4pm. $48/per person or Two for $95; you can add a bottle of Boeger Barbera or Chardonnay for $20. Online ticket purchases will be mailed. This event has sold out for the past several years, so don’t delay!
