Georgetown Event: Traverse Creek Botanical Hike
Join new ARC volunteer Taylor Espenshade, a seasonal botanist on the Eldorado National Forest, for this informative 2-mile hike at the Traverse Creek Botanical Special Interest Area. Taking a look at serpentine communities, rare/sensitive plants and invasive weeds! This serpentine area is home to some very special serpentine endemic plants, and has some great geological and archeological features as well. Unfortunately there are also some invasive plant species here as well (Scotch Broom among them) that the USFS and CNPS both are working hard to control. Children 5-years-old+ welcome. Well-behaved dogs on leash OK. Contact ARC to sign up and for meeting location (Georgetown area). Suggested donation: $5/members, $10/non-members. [email protected] or 530-621-1224.
